ImageFrank Viola is an author, speaker, and church planter. He graduated from the University of South Florida (Tampa, Florida) with a degree in social science education. For 15 years, he taught in the public school system. His subjects were history, honors philosophy, and AP psychology.

In 1988, Frank left the institutional church. Since that time, he has been gathering in organic churches in the United States. He has also been active in planting, aiding, and encouraging organic churches since the late 90s. In 2003, he began authoring books full time.

Frank is an in-demand conference speaker, mainly speaking in house church, simple church, organic church, and emerging church conferences. His public speaking covers a wide range of topics including the unsearchable riches of Jesus Christ, the deepening of the spiritual life, Christian community, church planting, and radical church restoration. He is a nationally recognized expert on emerging trends for the church and has been called “one of the most influential figures in the modern house church movement.”

Frank’s first book, “Rethinking the Wineskin” (2001, Present Testimony Ministry) has been hailed as a classic in the house church/simple church movement. His second book “Who is Your Covering?” (2001, Present Testimony Ministry) has set countless Christians free from heavy-handed authoritarian leadership structures. His third book, “Pagan Christianity” (2002, Present Testimony Ministry) traces the origins of our contemporary church practices. His fourth, “So You Want to Start a House Church?” (2003, Present Testimony Ministry) explores the biblical pattern for church planting. “The Untold Story of the New Testament Church” (2004, Destiny Image) is a unique Bible handbook that tells the story of the early church in chronological order. His 2006 release, “God’s Ultimate Passion” (2006, Present Testimony Ministry) is being regarded as a masterpiece in narrative theology.

Frank’s books have been translated into Spanish, Korean, Dutch, German, French, Portuguese, and Russian. He has traveled extensively in Europe, South America, and the continental United States.
